Most healthy adults need at least seven hours of sleep each night. Infants, young children, and teenagers should get more sleep to support growth and development. Still, it is a general recommendation. There are people who can’t sleep more than 5 hours each night and yet stay healthy and energetic.

The amount of sleep needed varies depending on age and individual factors. Generally, adults require 7-9 hours of sleep per night, while teenagers need 8-10 hours. Younger children and infants need even more sleep, ranging from 9-14 hours for toddlers to 12-16 hours for newborns. However, it’s important to note that quality of sleep is just as important as quantity. Factors such as sleep quality, sleep disorders, and individual differences can affect the amount of sleep needed. It’s important to listen to your body and prioritize getting enough sleep to feel rested and refreshed during the day.
