What exactly is Big Bang Theory? I have read about it, but I still don’t get it.

In a very simple language, just imagine a dot. This dot is called the singularity where all matter is concentrated. This idea undermines the laws of physics so we should be ready to grasp totally new concepts if the Big Bang theory is right. At one moment of time this dot started stretching or expanding. What caused this expansion isn’t clear, but what is clear today is that it keeps expanding up until now. Do not imagine the Big Bang as an explosion, it is rather rapid stretching in all directions. This is the theory of how the Universe was formed and the actual existence started. Whether it is correct or not, remains to be seen by the humans in the future if we live long enough.

The Big Bang Theory is a scientific explanation for the origin and evolution of the universe. It suggests that the universe began as a singularity, a point of infinite density and temperature, around 13.8 billion years ago. From this singularity, the universe rapidly expanded and continues to expand to this day. The theory is supported by various pieces of evidence, such as the observed redshift of distant galaxies and the abundance of light elements in the universe. It provides a framework for understanding the formation of galaxies, stars, and planets, as well as the cosmic microwave background radiation.
